Creative Spark in Louth welcomes newest artist-in-residence

Maria Atanacković is Creative Spark's artist-in-residence for April

Dublin-based artist Maria Atanacković has made the trip north to Louth this month, to be the third artist at Creative Spark for the 2025 artist-in-residence programme.

Maria known for her work across printmaking, assemblage, textiles, and digital media, Atanacković is the founder of Maluda, where she crafts bold and playful abstract pieces exploring materiality, composition, and colour.

Maria's artistic journey includes studying Surface Design at the London College of Communication and a background in printed textiles. Beyond her studio practice, she is a screen print tutor at Graphic Studio Dublin and has extensive experience as an arts facilitator, leading workshops and residencies in schools and community settings.

Her involvement in programs such as BLAST and the Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP) shows her commitment to bringing creative engagement to diverse audiences.

During her residency at Creative Spark, Maria plans to integrate laser cutting with traditional printmaking techniques to advance her practice. Her project aims to produce complex, three-dimensional assemblage pieces by combining laser-cut woodblocks, screen printing, and other processes, transitioning her work beyond paper into installation-based art.
