IKEA opens ‘Click and Collect’ Site at Tesco Dundalk

IKEA is today announcing the launch of seven new ‘Click and Collect’ sites, in collaboration with Tesco Ireland, including one in Dundalk.

These seven new locations will provide customers with an accessible collection service where customers can easily pick-up their IKEA orders from their local Tesco store carpark. Dundalk marks the second IKEA ‘Click and Collect’ location in Louth, joining the existing pick-up point at Tesco Extra Drogheda. The new Dundalk location opens today and is situated at Tesco Extra Dundalk.

IKEA and Tesco Ireland’s collaboration aims to make IKEA’s product range more accessible, giving customers greater choice in how they shop with IKEA and a more sustainable delivery option. The collection allows customers to pick-up their IKEA orders for free if the order is over €200, while orders under €200 will cost €15. Customers will be able to collect their IKEA order from a designated area within their local Tesco car park.

Following a successful pilot programme in Cork, Louth, and Kildare in May 2023, the new service has experienced phenomenal engagement, leading to an impressive expansion to 21 locations nationwide. The service represents IKEA's ongoing commitment to explore new and innovative ways to enhance the shopping experience for customers.

When placing an order online, customers will go through the usual checkout option and select the collection service for their local Tesco. Following signage within the Tesco carparks, customers will arrive at a designated pick-up point at their chosen date and time and meet with a delivery driver who will hand their order over to them.

Jayne Owen-Gauld, IKEA Market Manager in Ireland, says: "We're incredibly proud of our partnership with Tesco Ireland, which has allowed us to bring convenient and affordable collection services, including our highly successful ‘Click and Collect’ option, to customers across key locations. The positive reception has been fantastic, and resulting in us expanding the service to seven more communities. Coupled with our free delivery option for orders over €200, we're making shopping with us easier and more rewarding than ever."

Darrin Honer, Country Operations Manager, Tesco Ireland said: “We’re pleased to expand our partnership with IKEA Ireland to introduce new pick-up points in more of our car parks across the country. Some months into this partnership, we are seeing just how convenient this offering is for customers, who are pairing picking up their IKEA order with doing their weekly shop or picking up their ‘Click and Collect’ order."

This expansion of the ‘Click and Collect’ service is the latest in a series of investments demonstrating IKEA's long-term commitment to the Irish market. In the last year alone, IKEA has opened a 450,000 square foot Customer Distribution Centre in west Dublin, creating over 120 jobs and enabling faster online order processing.

This is in addition to several Plan & Order Points in locations including Naas, Dublin (St. Stephen's Green), Drogheda, Cork, Carlow, and Sligo, with more planned. These strategic investments provide greater access to IKEA’s high-quality, affordable products and a more convenient shopping experience for Irish customers.
