Plans remain open for nursing home and tourist accommodation in north Louth
Plans remain ongoing for the redevelopment of the former Tain Holiday Village in north Louth, to a nursing home and tourism accommodation facility, with the developer seeking an extension of duration of planning permission that was granted in 2019 for the development.
Ruairi Quinn ML Quinn Construction Ltd has applied to Louth County Council, for the the extension of duration of planning permission granted for the redevelopment of the former Tain Holiday Village at Ballyoonan, Omeath, Co Louth.
The proposed development would see the demolition of four existing structures and the partial demolition of one existing structure, and the change of use, conservation and extension of existing hostel buildings to a three-storey nursing home, that would include rooftop solar panels.
It also includes the use of approximately 3.1 ha of the site as a tourism accommodation facility, comprising 51 cabin-style units and eight 'gateway pods'; as well as the conversion of existing structure into reception/café/bar; site-wide hard and soft landscape works including the re-routing of existing greenway.
The application also provides for 144 car parking spaces; upgrades to boundary treatments; all site services and utilities including upgraded wastewater treatment system.
A decision is due on the application, which is at a pre-validation stage, by 27 February 2025.
