Dundalk councillor voices fears over trees at roadside on Rock Road

Sionainn McCann

At the Dundalk Municipal District November meeting, Cllr Sionainn McCann raised the issue of trees at the Rock Road in Dundalk.

The Dundalk South councillor told the November meeting that the Halpenny buses were having to swerve around them as they were too tall.

Cllr McCann added that it was a busy road, but as it was also a small road, the drivers were concerned that with cars coming towards them, they were anxious about safety.

The Sinn Féin councillor requested that the trees be cut back or the issue looked into.

Replying to Cllr McCann, Senior Engineer, Paddy Connolly said that the trees were the responsibility of the landowners who owned the adjoining land, but added that Louth County Council could speak to them on the matter.
