With the Leaving Certificate results released today, many students will be happy with their results and ready to take the next step in their life’s adventure.

However, since sitting their exams some students may have changed their mind on their selected course or wish to remain closer to home while they pursue their higher education options, a spokesperson for DKIT said.

"Others may have just missed out on required grades, and they now need to consider other pathways or alternatives.

"Even if students didn’t submit a CAO application, they can still look at available places in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), which offers a wide variety of degrees with places for study commencing in September 2024.

"There will be additional places available in degree areas such as Business, Computing, Engineering, Arts, Hospitality and Construction."

CAO will make offers to students who have already applied to CAO on Wednesday 28th August, with the Available Place facility opening at 12pm on Thursday 29th August 2023.

DkIT said they are  thrilled to recently unveil its Strategic Plan (2024-2028) where they have set out their ambition to achieve university status through the development of a strategic collaborative partnership with a university.

The Institute has embarked on this journey recognising the importance of a university award for students which will ensure global recognition of their educational achievements.

Dr Diarmuid O’Callaghan, DkIT president, recently said: In June 2024 we signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Maynooth University confirming joint strategic engagement on future collaborations over the coming years. This signifies our mutual ambition to enhance and expand higher education opportunities for students, staff and communities in the regions in which we are based in”.

The Institute said it is also delighted to report that a recent overall graduate survey found that 95% of their graduates were in employment or further education within 6 months of graduating with some courses reporting 100% employment directly after graduating. DkIT excels in creating a supportive community of learning which is student focused with small classes and an open-door policy which forms an environment for students to shine in.
