RTE’s Nationwide program will tonight feature Louth woman Susan Farrelly who had a spinal cord injury 10 years ago and who now teaches art to other people who also have spinal cord injuries.
The episode will focus on stories of people who are supporting those in our communities who have spinal cord injuries and who are on the road to recovery.
The Nationwide team will meet staff and those who have benefited from the supports on offer from Spinal Injuries Ireland including a woman who has no fear in taking a high-speed boat ride around Dublin Bay.
Many people who get a serious spinal injury end up getting treatment at the National rehabilitation hospital following which Spinal Injuries Ireland offers outreach support to those recovering.
Reporter Ann Cassin will find out all about the history of the organisation and of how it is funded.
Spinal Injuries Ireland offers a range of supports to people with spinal injuries when they leave the care of The National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire.
The programme will air tonight, Wednesday 10th July, at 7pm.
