Chef John Kenwright with his paella dish
The Townhouse invited local publicans, restaurants, suppliers, local businesses and chamber reps to the award-winning restaurant last Friday to hear all about their chef John Kenwright's efforts to represent Ireland in the World Paella Day Competition.
World Paella Day Competition 2024 invites chefs from around the world to enter the competition with their take on the traditional Valencian Paella dish.
John’s initial entry was a video explaining his credentials for representing Ireland on a global stage. This video has got him to the second from last stage and now as the only Irish chef to reach this stage he needs the town of Dundalk and the country of Ireland to get behind him and vote via social media.
John has been a passionate chef for over 20 years and has been fortunate enough to be able to open a restaurant in his home town of Dundalk five years ago.
John said he is committed to creating an accessible menu that showcases the wealth of local products on our doorstep. He’s forged great relationships with local suppliers in order to bring the freshest, most affordable products to his customers. He has a particular interest in Mediterranean flavours and this is reflected in his seasonal dishes on the menu.
And on Friday night local publicans, restaurants, suppliers, local businesses and chamber reps came together at the Townhouse to show their support for the award-winning chef in the World Paella Day Competition 2024.
“We gave everyone a taste of just one of John's paella recipes that will feature on our special boards throughout summer.
“There was a great buzz and enthusiasm from those who attended and all left with full belly’s ready to spread to get behind
John in the voting, our only Irish representative and one of our own from “d’town”
Voting takes only a few minutes by clicking on the link on the Townhouse's social media stories @townhousedundalk, or you can find John's video on the World Paella Day Competition website and please don’t forget to verify your email address.
