Sinn Fein’s Fiona Mhic Conchoille has been elected to Dundalk Carlingford after garnering 1692 votes.

Speaking after her win she said she felt “fantastic” continuing: “ I set out to get a seat for Sinn Fein and I got it, it’s not about me it’s about Sinn Fein, there were fantastic candidates, Sean and Kathleen, on our team and they would have been very good representatives and I’m sorry they missed out on this.

She said she was looking forward to going “up and down” and finding out how she can help her constituents, continuing, “ I’ll get stuck into everything now.”

“On the doors we got mostly local stuff, basic things like roads, more community infrastructure. I’m very involved in the sports infrastructure with Glenmore Athletics Club and I’d like to see more community stuff for young people.”
