Dunleer Tidy Towns hold annual Community Awards Night

Dunleer Tidy Towns held their annual Awards in the Grove last Wednesday night in Dunleer.

There were several awards handed out to great volunteers and many garden Awards. Volunteers of the year was also honored at the Reception. 

The following Awards were handed out to the best garden from each estate. 

Trophies glassware Plaques and cups were awarded in the different categories.                                                          

  1. Terry Lennon, Maryville

  2. Simone Bonescu Ravel Grange 

  3. George Reynolds Beechwood

  4. Anna Mulroy Church View

  5. Edmund Michelle Berkely    Rivervale

  6. Regikumar Koyyarthikkvzhy Woodlands

  7. Jim and Theresa Kenwright Mountain View

  8. Paul and Helen Corrigan –   School Lane.

Best Large Garden Award went to Garry Kelly, Drumcar Road

Best Small garden Award went to Geraldine Noone, Beechwood Drive

The best overall Garden of the year went to Geraldine Noone, Beechwood Drive, who received a silver perpetual Cup.

Special Awards went to David Doyle and Eugene Bailey for litter picking.

Volunteer of the year was awarded to John Bickmore from Beechwood Drive whose dedication to the upkeep of Beechwood Estate was at a high premium. They don’t come much better. 

The best Shopfront Award went to Aidan and Patricia Hand of Larry Hand and Sons Butchers on Main Street.

The winners were well acclaimed by the crowd present.

Cllr. Bernadette Conlon, Cllr Paula Butterly, Cllr Pearse McGeough and Cllr John Sheridan all addressed the audience on the upkeep of the town by the Tidy Towns, and areas of biodiversity.

The organisers were thankful for their help with presentation of trophies on the night. 

They would also like to thank all the sponsors and Dunleer Traders and businesses who never come up short when it comes to Tidy Towns and the upkeep of the Town and helping to improve the town year on year.
