Gardaí discover cannabis plants growing in polytunnel in forest in Monaghan

Gardaí in Monaghan have uncovered up to 100 cannabis plants growing in a polytype type structure, in the middle of a forest plantation in Laragh, Ballybay, according to Northern Sound radio.

As has been reported by Northern Sound, the discovery was made by Gardaí this morning when the plants in various stages of cultivation were found at the site.

The reports say that a large amount of lighting and other equipment was also seized at the scene and is now being forensically examined. It is also understood that the operation was being run by electricity that was being stolen from a nearby source.

No arrests have yet been made and it is understood investigations are ongoing.
