The man believed to be the leader of the gang involved in the murder of Garda Adrian Donohoe in 2013, is being investigated by gardaí for the robbery of an ATM in Castleblayney yesterday, according to a report by Ken Foy in today's Irish Independent.
Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe was fatally shot in Bellurgan, County Louth on 25 January 2013 by an armed gang of five people during a robbery on a credit union.
The robbery in Castleblayney was the eighth ATM robbery this year. According to reports, gardaí believe a number of different cross-Border gangs have been involved in the robberies.
According to the Irish Independent report, detectives investigating the ATM robbery are now focusing on the leader of a south Armagh/north Louth gang.
The man is believed to be a chief suspect in Garda Donohoe's murder but has never been arrested in relation to the crime.
