Tall ship 'La Malouine' attacked by vandals in Carlingford at weekend

Gardaí are appealing to the public for information, after a tall ship berthed in Carlingford was attacked and damaged by vandals at the weekend.

The incident which happened overnight on Saturday, saw the tall ship boarded by vandals who are reported to have urinated and defecated on the boat, and according to reports on the facebook page dedicated to the ship, attempted to set fire to three different sections of the boat.

This boat is reportedly privately owned, funded and sailed by an 85 year old man and it is seaid to be his home.

It is reported that the perpetrators attempted to light one of the fires using the ship's log.

Extensive smoke damage was done to the galley and Captains Cabin, according to reports.

As well as the damage done to the tall ship, a fisherman's boat is also said to have been damaged, along with the Ship Masters car.

The Ship Master's bike was also thrown into the harbour along with expensive sailing jackets and ships equipment.
