Dundalk couple raise funds for national bereavement charity

The parents and family of baby Seán Fee, who passed away two days after a premature birth in February 2018, have directed their grief towards helping other parents in similar situations by raising funds for national bereavement charity Féileacáin.

This charity supports parents and those affected by the death of a child at or shortly after birth.

John and Aideen Fee and their family have raised funds for a new ‘Cuddle Cot’ unit for the charity and this week presented it to Féileacáin’s Jacinta Murphy.

The Cuddle Cot unit, which looks like a conventional Moses Basket, regulates the baby’s temperature, which allows parents to keep their baby with them that little bit longer and is a vital part of the grieving process.

In June, Aideen along with her family and friends ran the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon to raise money for the charity and the cot. She successfully raised €4,500 for the charity which allowed them to buy the cot. The cot is adorned with a special plaque in the memory of baby Seán Fee.
