Locals in Dundalk will have a chance to give blood over two days next week as the Irish Blood Transfusion Service's clinics return to the town.
The Crowne Plaza hotel will host two days of clinics on Monday and Tuesday next, July 30th and July 31st. The clinics will be open between 4.30pm and 8pm daily.
The IBTS recommend that donors have eaten something and have had plenty of cold drinks before attending while they also request that you allow yourself about 90 minutes to complete the process at the clinic from the registration to refreshments.
An additional clinic will be held at the Clan na Gael football grounds on Wednesday August 1st and Thursday August 2nd. It also takes place between 4.30pm and 8pm.
A blood donation is just 470mls – less than one pint. Last year, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda required 2,711.
You must be 18 or over and under 65 to give blood for the first time. If you are aged between 65 and 70 years (up to, but not including your 70th birthday) and you have donated in the last 10 years, you can give blood.
