RSA reveal number of penalty point offences committed by Louth drivers in December 2017
According to the Road Safety Authority, Louth drivers were issued penalty points for 8,401 speeding offences in December 2017.
Figures released last week, reveal that 11,978 driving offences were committed by Louth drivers in December, with speeding being the most common offence.
The second most common offence in December was driving while holding a mobile phone – this happened 1,339 times in Louth last month.
The third most common offence in Louth last month was using a vehicle without an NCT certificate. This offence occurred 535 times in December 2017.
Other offences for which penalty points were issued to Louth drivers in December included: No insurance (241 offences); Learner driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver (159 offences) and failing to obey traffic lights (179 offences).
