Exhibition of demolished Dundalk shoe factory opened

A LOCAL photographer is showcasing her work with an exhibition of images on the demolition of Clark's shoe factory in Dundalk.

Samantha Brown from Blackrock told The Dundalk Democrat that the exhibition opened at Louth County Library in Dundalk yesterday (Tuesday, November 21).

"I was inspired to do this project because I saw the factory every day and when I learned it was going to be demolished, I decided I wanted to capture it," said Samantha.

"I spent several months taking photographs and will talk about the experience in more detail at the launch."

Featuring 20 images, the exhibition is set to be officially launched by Irene Dunne on Thursday, November 23 from 6.30pm to 8pm.

The exhibition documents the demolition of the old shoe factory on Rampart's Road and will run until Saturday, December 2.

The factory was demolished to make way for a car park beside Marshes Shopping Centre.
