A solution for a problem that has plagued Ardee residents for years could be on the way

Traffic has plagued the reisdents of Ardee for years.

A project to build a much needed by-pass for Ardee has been bumped up a list of priority projects according to one Louth politician.

Peak time traffic is known to cause serious tail back for local motorists due to one of the county's busiest roads - the N2 - cutting straight through Ardee.

Fine Gael TD for Louth, Peter Fitzpatrick, has welcomed a commitment from Transport Infrastructure Ireland that the Ardee by-pass will be placed on their priority list of projects.“As a member of the Oireachtas Transport, Tourism and Sport Committee I raised the issue of the Ardee by-pass at this week’s committee meeting.

“This is a vital project and the construction of a new bypass would be the key to solving Ardee’s many traffic problems. The total length of the by-pass is 3.5km and the estimated total cost of the project will be €15 million.

“Thankfully we are making progress on this project. All lands for the project have already been purchased and it is now shovel ready.

“I’m happy to report that at the Transport Committee this week, Brian Nolan, CEO of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, gave me a commitment that the Ardee by-pass will be placed on the priority list of projects.

“I will continue to work hard to ensure that this by-pass is delivered for the people of Ardee and surrounding areas.”
