The Altered Hours set to play in Dundalk as part of Collide project

The Altered Hours will perform with support act Alice Robinson as part of An Tain and the Spirt Store collide collaboration

The next band to take part in the COLLDE project with An Táin Arts Centre and the Spirit Store are The Altered Hours who will perform on Thursday, February 8th.

The Cork based rock band's music explores vast psychedelic spaces, immediate post-punk tones, repetitive rhythms and propelling structures.

Over the past few years the five piece have been headlining tours in the UK and Europe, creating what some journalists have described as a ‘cult-like' status.

The Altered Hour will be supported at the Spirit Store gig on the night by local singer songwriter Alice Robinson who creates lyrical vocabularies which critically explore themes of inequality and resistance.

Her vocal style drifts, often uneasily, between an intimate tenderness and passionate wrath.

Paul Hayes Director of An Táin Arts Centre said: “We were delighted to receive funding from the Late-Night Events programme by the Arts Council of Ireland, so that we can partner with the Spirit Store.

“It has been a goal of ours since establishing An Táin Arts Centre, 10 years ago, to work with the Spirit Store who we admire greatly.

“This funding allows us to support a host of top eclectic Irish artists and local artists who will showcase their talent in support slots.

“This is a new departure for An Táin Arts Centre and one that we are very much looking forward to.”
Derek Turner of the Spirit Store, speaking about the partnership, said:

“Given the strength of arts, music and culture in Dundalk and the public’s renewed energy for attending events this is a perfect opportunity for the Spirit Store and An Táin Arts Centre to work together on improving the standards of what we can both offer to the late night economy in the area.

“We look forward to presenting these four events and to establishing a closer relationship with An Táin Arts Centre in the future.”

Collide is a late-night collaboration, produced by An Táin Arts Centre in association with the Spirit Store, supported by the Late-Night Events Programme from the Arts Council of Ireland in partnership with Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.

The Altered Hours play at The Spirit Store on Thursday 8th February. Doors open at 9:30pm with the performance starting at 10pm and tickets are €15 + €1.50 per ticket.

Tickets are available from both An Táin Arts Centre over the phone at 042 9332332 or online at www.antain.ie or from the Spirit Store at 042 935 2697 or online https://spiritstore.ie/
