Folk singer Jessica Willis Fisher coming to Dundalk's An Táin

Singer-songwriter Jessica Willis Fisher will take to the stage in An Táin Arts Centre on Saturday, January 20th

Your Roots Are Showing is Ireland's newest and largest annual folk, roots, and traditional music conference, showcase, festival and trade fair taking place in the Crowne Plaza in Dundalk.

This year An Táin Arts Centre said it is delighted to be working in association with Your Roots are Showing on a number of events during the conference and festival this month, including a performance by singer, songwriter and fiddle player, Jessica Willis Fisher, on Saturday 20th January at 8pm in the main theatre at An Táin Arts Centre.

Raised playing traditional folk music from an early age, Jessica Willis Fisher performed with her family band in the Irish, Country, and Bluegrass music scenes and made appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and America’s Got Talent.

Her Americana-leaning debut solo album features both deeply autobiographical lyrics and foot-stomping anthems.

Director of An Táin Arts Centre Paul Hayes said of the partnership: “We are delighted to be hosting several events in association with Your Roots are Showing Folk Conference, which really attracts a very high caliber of folk and traditional musicians, and we look forward to working with our partners to showcase the best Dundalk has to offer.”

Supporting artists is a huge part of An Táin Arts Centre’s activities and they said they are thrilled to be strengthening their relationship with Brendan McCreanor, co-founder of Your Roots Are Showing.

Brendan was An Táin Arts Centre’s musician in residence in 2023 and played the Uileann Pipes on the An Táin Arts Centre production Legacy Stories of the Civil War back in November 2023.

Brendan said of the partnership with An Táin Arts Centre: “An Táin Arts Centre has provided me with an invaluable platform to showcase my abilities, connect with fellow artists, and expand my audience reach.

“Now, as the co-founder and organiser of ‘Your Roots Are Showing’, I eagerly anticipate our continued collaboration with An Táin Arts Centre in supporting and celebrating artists.”

Jessica Willis Fisher plays at An Táin Arts Centre on Saturday 20th January at 8pm.

Tickets are €22.50 plus €1.50 booking fee per ticket and can be purchased from An Táin Arts Centre’s Box Office on Crowe Street, over the phone on 042 9332332 or online at www.antain.ie.
