At the beginning of November people across north Louth were left counting the cost of the torrential rains that flooded homes and businesses, and left roads and local infrastructure destroyed in the region.
A number of roads in the Cooley Peninsula remain closed due to flood damage and Louth County Council sought funding from central government to aid in their repairs.
The government also confirmed that a further €3 million in funding had been allocated to its Humanitarian Assistance Scheme to provide support to those living in properties directly affected by flooding.

Ardee student Eoghan McCabe was honoured with a special achievement award at this year's Garda National Youth Awards.
Eoghan, who was born with a rare genetic condition, has run a Charity Tractor Run, 'Eoghan's Home Run' for the last two years raising an astonishing €55,585 for local charities.

A 29 year old man who broke the jaw of the player he was marking in a GAA match in County Louth was given a two year suspended sentence at Dundalk Circuit Court in the middle of November.
Jack Butterly of Clonmore, Togher was convicted by a jury in April of assault causing harm at the grounds of Naomh Fionnbarra, Ballygassan, Annagassan on April 19th 2019.
The victim, who was playing for St. Fechin’s was returning to his position up the field for a kick out after the ball went wide, when without warning he received a punch to the left side of his face, audibly breaking his jaw.

Also in November, Louth County Council mobilised significant resources in response to the impact of Storm Debi.
The storm crossed the region overnight knocking out electricity in hundreds of homes in Dundalk and across Louth.

There were calls for answers after a recent distressing case which saw a 93-year-old woman endure an almost four hour wait for an ambulance to arrive after a fall at her Dundalk home.
The incident unfolded when at 5.20pm an ambulance was called for the elderly woman who had fractured her pelvis, but did not arrive until 9.05pm
The ordeal raised concerns about emergency response service wait times locally and calls for answers as to what caused such a long delay.

Gardai in Ardee launched an investigation after a shocking aggravated burglary in Riverstown which saw an elderly woman confronted at her back door by three men wielding hurleys.
The incident was just one of a number that have been recorded in the mid-Louth area after two attempted burglaries of elderly people in Castlebellingham and Kilsarn were foiled in November.
The woman in her early 80’s was sitting watching the Rugby World Cup Argentina V England game on television when she heard a noise from the back door at around 9:10 pm on October 27th.

Louth County Council said they were leading a number of major capital projects which are set to transform the county over the coming years, as part of the three-year Capital Programme 2024-2026.
New housing schemes, road projects, and bridge construction and restoration works are in the pipeline alongside a series of urban regeneration initiatives in towns and villages across Louth.
One of the most significant urban redevelopment projects is the St. Nicholas Quarter and Backlands Regeneration Scheme in Dundalk.

Louth County Council's new pothole fixing machine, the JCB Pothole Pro, got to work in Dundalk repairing potholes in places including on roads in the Seafield Lawns estate.
Louth became the first local authority in Ireland to introduce the new pothole fixing machine.
