Applegreen will open a new M&S Food “shop in shop” concept at its Dundalk Retail Park outlet today.
Applegreen has a partnership with M&S Food and now offers a range of up to 400 M&S products at certain locations. From tomorrow, the Applegreen store at Dundalk Retail Park will feature M&S Food, including fresh fruit, salads, Irish sandwiches, lunch and dinner options and a selection of other M&S favourites, such as Percy Pig sweets, M&S cookies, and Colin the Caterpillar cakes.
The Applegreen at the Dundalk Retail Park, which is the sixth store nationwide to stock the M&S Food range, will also feature Click & Collect for selected M&S Clothing and Home product ranges. Adding the M&S range involved a significant redevelopment to the Dundalk Retail Park location, which has just been completed.
The exclusive partnership with M&S Food brings the Food range to a much wider Irish customer base.
Applegreen say market research shows that Irish customers view M&S Food products as being high quality, special, trusted and tempting.
Dundalk Retail Park is one of up to sixty new M&S Food outlets which Applegreen plans to open over the next 10 years, under a new agreement which was announced earlier this week.
Applegreen will add up to 15 new M&S Food outlets will be added to the partnership next year.
Applegreen Ireland Managing Director Fiona Matthews said:
“We are delighted to bring the M&S Food range to our customers in Dundalk, and also to the wider Co Louth and north Co Meath catchment areas. This is a really exciting new concept for customers, and since we launched our partnership with M&S last year, we have seen a very positive customer reaction to the new range.
“We now have top quality trusted M&S food products available at our Dundalk Retail Park store and that will offer customers more choice and greater convenience.”
M&S Country Director for Ireland and Northern Ireland Eddie Murphy said:
“One of the primary objectives of our partnership with Applegreen is to expand the footprint of M&S Food in Ireland. We’re excited to announce the rapid expansion of this partnership following a successful pilot.
“The addition of 15 new locations by the end of next year, and many more in the years to come, enables us to offer top quality, trusted value M&S products to a broader customer base in Ireland. The expansion reflects the successful partnership between M&S and Applegreen. We are delighted to incorporate the new locations into our wider network and to continue to work closely with Applegreen. Look out for M&S Food coming to your local Applegreen store.”
The Applegreen business currently employs over 16,000 people and has further plans for growth in its major markets. Its expansion plans are focused on acquiring and developing new sites in the markets in which it already operates, as well as upgrading and rebranding its existing locations.
Marks & Spencer has been trading in the Republic of Ireland for 44 years, having opened its first store in Dublin’s Mary Street in November 1979. M&S Ireland has 18 stores in the Republic of Ireland, employing 1,800 colleagues.
