The commemoration of Seán O'Carroll and Patrick Tierney, both of whom were taken from their homes and shot dead by the Black and Tans on November 30, 1920, took place in Ardee on Sunday.
Patrick Tierney had been a quartermaster in the IRA whilst Seán O’Carroll held the rank of Captain. 25 year old O’Carroll was taken out of his lodgings in Castle Street and brought around the corner where he was shot. Minutes later the 26 year old Patrick Tierney was taken out of his parent’s house in Tisdale Street and was also killed.
