St Peter's AC well represented at Leinster Cross Country Championships

St Peter AC athletete Niamh Brady congratulating Dearbhla Allen

On Saturday 4 November, St Peter’s AC were very well represented at the Leinster Cross Country Championships in Dunboyne Co Meath.

The stand out performer for the Dromiskin based club through out the Cross Country season has been Dearbhla Allen, having earlier in the season secured a Country Championship double of U17 and U18, the third successive year she has done so.

Dearbhla went one better by winning the Leinster U17 Championship on Saturday, 4 November, which completed a memorable double in Leinster Championships having already won the U18 Leinster title two weeks earlier.

Dearbhla also led the Louth County team to a team silver and was joined on the team by her wing woman Orla McLoughlin.
Orla has being an ever present in St Peter’s AC since the age of seven and with her hard work this year deservedly won her first provincial medal.

Cian Gorham continues to improve after a lengthy lay off, having already won the Louth Championship, and gave his all in the much softer ground in Dunboyne to finish in fifth place.

Likewise Niamh Brady had another strong run at Leinster level taking fourth place adding the provincial medal to her County title won last month.

Sam Jeytoo showed the improvement he has made since joining the club with a solid run in the boys U15 race.

Conor Duff had a very strong finish in the boys U13 race helping the Louth team to win silver.

The ever willing James McCourt moved up an age to run in the same race and although not getting the best of starts made great ground during the closing stages.

The ever improving Sadhbh Sheelan gave her all in the girls under thirteen race.

The club had a team in the girls under eleven race and all did really well.

Ella Murphy led her club mates home and also played a big part for the Louth team which won bronze.

Anna Kelly had her strongest run to date running really well.

Ellen McCourt moved up in age and both her and Abbie Murphy will have gained a lot of experience in taking part in big events.

One of the best runs of the day from the club was from birthday boy, Colm Duff.

Colm who is U10 had the run of his life, leading the race at different stages and was very unfortunate not to hold on to one of the twelve individual medals.

Colm suffered a fall after a collision just yards from the finish line, however he got up and finished the race when others might not have, definitely one to watch for the future.

The day started with a non Championship U9 girls race with Aoibhe Murphy showing per potential with a very impressive fifth place finish .

Well done to everyon who took competed.
