SINGLES MATCHPLAY
Two best friends in Patrick Byrne and John Roullier came up against each other on Tuesday evening in the matchplay final.
Both had tough matches on their way to the final. It was nip and took for most of the front nine, with John taking a lead crossing the road, and he got the job done with a couple of holes to go.
John has been so close in recent years and was relieved to get over the line this year.
Congratulations to both lads.

MANNAN CASTLE SENIORS

Mannan Castle Golf Course was in excellent condition on Tuesday last for the Seniors 13 hole competition. Those who played took full advantage recording very good scores.
Early starter Con Hanneffy (16) set the tone with an impressive 33 points. Con had seven pars and a great birdie 3 on the difficult par four 9th hole to take category 1.
However it was the late starters who in general had the best scores.
Paddy Archbold (29) was the deserved winner of category 2 with an excellent score of 32 points.
Paddy started and ended his round with very good pars and scored on every hole.
Just when it seemed nobody would manage to beat Con's score Tom Fox (27), playing in the last group, came in with a remarkable score of 35 points.
Tom's card contained seven 3 pointers and one 4 pointer in an error free round.
