An Bord Pleanála has given the go ahead for a development at Bellfield, Haggardstown, Dundalk, that will see the construction of 183 new homes.
Louth County Council had granted planning permission in April to McParland Bros Builders Limited for for a Large-Scale Residential Development (LRD) comprising a mix of houses and apartments, subject to 18 conditions.
64 houses are in the plans, comprising 48 three bed units and 16 four bed units.
There are 119 apartments/duplex units planned, comprising 21, one bed; 57, two bed; and 41 three bed units across six blocks ranging in height up to six storeys.
A third-party appeal against Louth County Council's decision to grant planning permission was prepared and submitted by Mr Christohper Browne, Town Planner, to An Bord Pleanála on 3 May.
In the appeal, Mr Browne said that there was issues with the placement and height of the apartment blocks, including one block in particular, and the provision of a new vehicular entrance into Bellfield Drive.
An Bord Pleanála made the decision to grant planning permission for the development on 31 July subject to revised conditions, saying in its Board Direction that it would be “acceptable in terms of urban design, height and quantum of development”.
