ESB Networks has provided further details on the work it carried out at Roden Place yesterday along with details of planned works at the top of the Avenue Road in Dundalk next week.

ESB Construction Supervisor North East, Mr Aidan McGrath, told the Dundalk Democrat that crews from Dundalk, along with Drogheda and Navan crews, carried out the work at Roden Place on Tuesday, during the planned outage.

Mr McGrath said that it was a large undertaking to replace so many bare low voltage spans but happily it all went well and will allow Mo Chara to undertake work on their roof.

ESB Networks confirmed on Tuesday that standards require it to use a hoist for steel pole works, so a number of ESB Networks vehicles were deployed in order to conduct the works efficiently and safely, while keeping disruption to customers to the minimum amount of time possible.

The planned outage was notified to impacted customers in the area until 3pm on Tuesday, but power was restored by 12 noon.

Mr McGrath also provided details on the planned works taking place at the top of the Avenue Road next Tuesday 22 August. The works are to facilitate construction on the site beside Tesco so they can erect scaffolding safely near the ESB network.

The traffic lights at Hill Street Bridge will be out for the duration of the work and traffic management will be in place. Louth County Council has been notified about the outage with regard to the traffic lights.

Mr McGrath added that the surrounding customers affected have been hand notified by Dundalk staff with cards in letterboxes so this planned outage will not appear on Powercheck. The businesses in the Avenue Road centre will not be affected as they are not fed from the overhead network.
