KILKERLEY EMMETS 0-15 CLAN NA GAEL 1-7
Kilkerley Emmets moved clear at the top of Division 2 thanks to a five-point victory over fellow-promotion hopefuls, Clan na Gael in Dundalk on Saturday evening.
The opening quarter of this encounter was evenly matched with Tadgh McEnaney and Sean O’Hanlon swapping points, before Cormac Mallon and Jason Cullen did likewise.
Kyle Cotter and Conor Noonan traded scores before O’Hanlon scored the only goal of the game to give the Clans the advantage.
However, Kilkerley closed the half on top and a brace each from Conor Quigley and McEnaney in response to a Gavin Gaffey score, saw the visitors lead by 0-8 to 1-4 at the break.
The Emmets gave themselves a cushion at the start of the second half with three points from McEnaney and another from Ewan McEnteggart, while O’Hanlon and Robbie Curran replied to keep the hosts in contention.
However, the Dundalk side were unable to close the gap and late scores from Quigley and McEnaney ensured Kilkerley picked up the three points to take the outright lead in the table.

COOLEY KICKHAMS 0-19 YOUNG IRELANDS 0-8
Cooley Kickhams continued their pursuit of league honours with a comfortable win away to Young Irelands in Division 2.
A dominant display in the opening quarter paved the way for the victory which leaves the peninsula side just a point behind leaders Kilkerley Emmets.
Despite the poor conditions, the visitors were in fine form in front of the posts and got off the mark through Cian Connor inside two minutes.
There were further points from Connor, Peter Thornton, Enda O’Neill and Michael Rafferty as Cooley had nine points on the board without reply at the end of the first quarter.
Rafferty and Patrick Hanlon added to the tally before Young Irelands finally got off the mark through Jordan O’Donoghue on 21 minutes. Dermot Mone added two further points before the break, but his side were facing an uphill struggle as they trailed by 0-13 to 0-3.
The second half proved to be a more even contest in terms of scoring, but a comeback never looked to be a realistic prospect as Kickhams remained in control.

ROCHE EMMETS 1-6 ST KEVINS 0-7
St Kevins slipped back to third place in Division 2A when they lost out away to Roche Emmets on Saturday night.
In what proved to be a very tight contest throughout, a goal from Marc Murphy helped the hosts record their first victory of phase two of the league. That goal came in the opening half and it ensured that Roche went in at the break with a 1-3 to 0-3 advantage.
In a game where both defences were on top, the second half was also a low-scoring affair, but Roche did just enough to hold out for victory.
Barry O’Hare contributed three important points for the winners, while Adam McKay, Peter Lynch and Shane Byrne also hit the target. Cameron Maher led the way for the Kevins, while Tom Matthews, Lee Crosbie, Patrick Clarke and TJ Doheny added points.
It was a disappointing night for the Philipstown men as not only did they lose the top spot in the league that they jointly held with Kilkerley Emmets, but they were also overtaken by Cooley Kickhams.

The all-important goal was scored by Lannleire's Darragh Malone after 24 minutes of the first half, running on to a terrific pass from Bob Murphy and firing past the Glen Emmets net minder.
As a result, Lannleire led 1-2 to 0-3 at the interval, their points coming from Pierce Hawkins and Liam Callan. Kealan O’Neill scored all three points to keep the home side very much in the game.
Glen Emmets fought back in the second half and were level with a minute left on the clock as Conor Grimes (2), James Butler and Robbie Byrne found their range.

The Joes got their second win in phase two of the Division 2 league with an 11-point victory over O’Connell’s at The Grove on Saturday evening.
The visitors had the ball in the net straight from the throw-in when Ben Collier was on the end of a long ball into the square. Conal McCaul got the first point for the Joes and Conor Culligan got the O’Connells off the mark with a point.
Three points in a row for the Joes from Collier, McCaul and Craig Doherty left the score 1-4 to 0-1 after 15 minutes, before two points from Bernard Osborne for the home team was answered by two by the visitors from McCaul and Conor Neary.
The Bellingham side were awarded a free kick out by the sideline and Osborne’s effort was caught by the keeper. But he was adjudged to have been behind the goal line and the green flag was raised.
The Dromiskin men were awarded a penalty on their next attack but O’Connells keeper Stuart Reynolds rolled back the years and pulled off a one handed save from Alan Quigley’s spot kick.
The teams shared the next four points before a McCaul point and the Joes second goal of the game from Gabriel Bell. Conor Culligan got his third and the last point of the half to leave the score at the break 2-9 to 1-6.
O’Connells got two quick points at the start of the second half from Sean Cairns and Jackie Agnew, but that was answered with the Dromiskin side’s third goal from David Kieran.
The Joes dominated the next period of the game and added 1-4 without reply, the goal coming from Doherty and the points from Quigley (2) and McCaul (2).

Despite not scoring for the final 20 minutes of this encounter, Hunterstown Rovers held on to claim a narrow victory over Dundalk Gaels at The Ramparts.
Aaron Levins landed what proved to be the winning point in the 40th minute and it proved to be enough despite the best efforts of Dundalk Gaels to get back to winning ways.
The visitors made a bright start to the game with Cillian Taaffe opening the scoring with a goal after six minutes.
