Hyundai Kona
Hyundai have a new Kona. Already on sale here are the Hybrid and petrol-only models.
The all-electric model which will surely be of huge interest to Hyundai and EV drivers arrives in late October.
Not to be downhearted by this slight delay, Hyundai see it as a golden opportunity for potential Kona EV drivers to sit in the other models and have full confidence when placing an order for one as it will be no different inside. Clever.
The petrol model has a 1.0 litre engine with the hybrid using a 1.6 litre one.
There is an N-Line version that Hyundai have noticed considerable interest in already.
The Kona is substantially bigger than the outgoing model making it more spacious and roomier.
It also looks considerably different but retains a few nods to the outgoing model.
The overall look is one of sophistication with the front and rear LED bars shining most.
The influence of other Hyundai models on the design of the Kona are readily apparent and to my eye most welcome.
The interior where you spend all your time with the car impresses and again other interiors from other Hyundai models have had a huge influence on the Kona.
There are Signature and Elegance trims available with the petrol only getting the N-Line treatment.
Hyundai never said there was an entry model which, like Renault, is probably because the specification of the Signature model is so high with climate control, LED headlights and adaptive cruise control.
Prices start at €30,895 for the petrol version with the hybrid costing €34,295.
The big target for Hyundai is the Toyota C-HR and they want to be the best seller in the segment.
Their current sales form would suggest Toyota needs to be worried.
