The latest transfer window began with a bang earlier today with news coming from Oriel Park that Dundalk FC had recruited their first news signing of the Summer.
Having seen Rayhaan Tulloch and Wasiri Williams depart the club following the end of their loan deals, Stephen O'Donnell has added to his defensive options by bringing in centre-back Darren Brownlie.
The 29-year-old is a veteran in the Scottish game, having played over 180 times across spells with Ayr United, Queen of the South and most recently Partick Thistle.
He made 33 appearances for the Jags during the 2022/2023 season as the Glasgow based team reached the Scottish Premiership playoff final, where they were beaten on penalties by Ross County.
“I’ve been thinking about trying something new for a couple of years so when the opportunity came up to come to Dundalk, I was really excited by it,” he told the club's media team.
“Usually when you sign for a team in Scotland, you’re straight into pre-season so it’s different to come here and have a league run-in, cup competitions and Europe to look forward to.
“I got taken around the place and the set-up looks really good, so I just can’t wait to get started.”
Brownlie arrives on a free transfer, subject to international clearance, following the expiration of his contract at Partick Thistle.
He is set to wear the Number 19 shirt and will meet up with his new teammates in Gibraltar next week ahead of the UEFA Europa Conference League first-qualifying round first-leg-tie with FCB Magpies.
