Louth cllr says he is 'forced' to write to Minister over frustrations with Uisce Eireann

Cllr John Reilly

Louth's Cllr John Reilly has said he is being forced to write to Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage with responsibility for Local Government and Planning, Kieran O'Donnell TD, stating his "frustrations with Uisce Éireann's reluctance to extend the water main to the village of Kilcurry".

The Fine Gael councillor said, "I wish to welcome the improvements to the water infrastructure on the Mill road and the Toberona area but unfortunately, that is where the improvements stop."

"It is so frustrating", he stated, adding that he has been highlighting this issue for almost three years. "A site is readily available for a pumping station and yet Uisce Éireann has no goodwill to the people of Kilcurry."

The Dundalk-Carlingford councillor added, "we have a school with over 400 pupils depending on a well, community centre, and creche. It is just so hard to believe that a village so close to one of the biggest towns in Ireland can't get a water supply."
