Three separate appeals have been lodged with the planning authority in relation to inclusion on draft maps for the Residential Zone Land Tax in Louth.
The Residential Zoned Land Tax is a new tax aimed at increasing housing supply by activating zoned, serviced residential development lands (including mixed-use lands) for housing. It also aims to incentivise landowners to use existing planning permissions for housing.
All local authorities published a Draft Residential Zoned Land Tax Map identifying land within the scope of the tax on 1 November 2022.
These showed lands that fall within the scope of the Residential Zoned Land Tax. People had until 01 January 2023 to make a submission to the relevant local authority about whether or not land on the Draft Map met the criteria for being subject to the tax.
Landowners unhappy with the local authority determination could appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanála. Three such appeals in relation to lands in Louth have been appealed.
The Ardee Partnership lodged an appeal on 26 April in relation to lands at at Rathgory and Mullardrillen, Drogheda Road, in Ardee. The case is due to be decided by 15 August.
Separately, PJ & EJ Doherty Limited lodged an appeal on 28 April, in relation to inclusion on draft maps for the Residential Zone Land Tax for lands at Earlsfort in Dundalk. The case is due to be decided by 17 August 2023.
Also, on 24 April, Dwellings Development Ltd lodged an appeal in relation to lands at Termonfeckin Road, Drogheda, included on draft maps relation to the Residential Zoned Land Tax. The case is due to be heard by 14 August 2023.
