Dundalk IT junior parkrun Mums Run to take place on DkIT campus
As Mother’s Day approaches on Sunday, March 19th, Dundalk IT junior parkrun is sending out an invitation to walkers and runners aged four to 14 to come along with their mothers for Dundalk’s first annual ‘Mum’s Run’.
Why not replace the traditional mother’s ‘breakfast in bed’ with a bit of fun and fresh air together instead!
This free, family-friendly event will take place at 9.30 am as part of junior parkrun’s weekly 2k route around the sports pitches in the heart of the DkIT campus.
Event Director Sarah McEneaney said: “Since 2021, we’ve been here to encourage kids to get fit and active every Sunday morning with their families.
“We get together every week of the year, whatever the weather, and it’s always so worth it when you see the enthusiasm and pride of the kids making it across the finish line.
“Some run, some walk, and some do a combination of both!
“We are really inclusive, the focus is on fun, and everyone takes the course happily at their own pace.
“This free event is perfect for families who are looking for an active way to celebrate Mother’s Day.
“It takes no more than 30 mins from start to finish, so there’s still plenty of time left in the day for the pampering and relaxing that all mothers deserve!”
The event is free, but participants need to pre-register at https://www.parkrun.ie/dundalkit-juniors/ Supported by VHI and DkIT.
Dundalk IT junior parkrun is organised entirely by volunteers for the benefit of the community.
The 2k route is run on tarmac paths and is fully marshalled.
