Dundalk's Coulter Poppies mural shortlisted in street art competition

Dundalk mural shortlisted in worldwide best street art competition

Dundalk’s street mural The Coulter Poppies on  Clanbrassil Street has been nominated in the “best of 2022” shortlist by the website Street Art Cities which records the location of street art around the world.

After 12 months of sharing 100 monthly murals, Street Art Cities has nominated 100 artworks in 92 cities in 30 countries and 4 Irish murals made the cut.

Created by Argentinian artist Ciclope, the work was inspired by Thomas Coulter, who was an Irish physician, botanist and explorer.

His passion for knowledge and discovery is thought to have been inspired by his father Samuel Coulter who had a remarkable collection of books on exploration, agriculture and bee-keeping, history, religion, and the Irish language.
