Lady Captain Angela Evers and Men’s Captain Raymond O’Hara got their year off to a brilliant start over the weekend. A fantastic turnout across both days even with the changeable conditions.

The 2025 captains arrived at the club in a golf buggy decorated with balloons and bunting made by the Lady Captain.

The decorated golf buggy sped into the carpark, with Captain Joe behind the wheel, I wasn’t aware that golf buggies went that fast, just as well that Captain Joe usually walks the course!

Greeted by members and friends to a champagne reception, before they headed to the tee box.

The captains would like to thank all the members who came to the clubhouse to greet them, for all the cards and good wishes and thanks to all the members who played in the Captain's Scramble.

Lets hope 2025 golf season brings us good health, some sunshine and lots of golf. The winning team played mostly in the rain on Saturday morning, shooting a superb six under par gross score (Nett 50).

The team comprised of John O’Brien, Jimmy McMahon, James Hand and Liam Morrissey.

Runners up were Conor Matters, Shane Donohue, Tom Fox and Peter Marron on a score of nett 51. The boys made nine birdies along the way and probably found themselves unlucky losers.

2025 Captains Drive In 22nd and 23rd March – First: John O’Brien, Jimmy McMahon, James Hand and Liam Morrissey - (PH.14) - 50 nett; Second: Conor Matters, Shane Donohue, Tom Fox & Peter Marron - (PH.10) - 51 nett.

Mannan Castle Ladies

The week’s winning score was one most golfers would be happy to have on 18 holes. The last of the 13 Holes competitions for the season, was won by Angela McBride 34pts.

Angela played steady, bogey golf, scoring a whopping 25 points on the front nine. Great stuff Angela. Most weeks 32 points would be a winning score over 13 holes, but Jo Morris's shot had to settle for second place.

An impressive score carding five pars and a beautiful birdie on the 10th hole. Imelda Hanratty won on the countback beating two other 29-point cards.

Imelda had 12points on the last fours holes to secure her place on the podium. Fantastic golf everyone.

Week Seven – 13 Hole Competition - 19th March 2025 - Winner: Angela McBride (33) 34pts; Second: Jo Morris (19) 32pts; Third: Imelda Hanratty (36) 29pts c/b.
