Dunleer Tidy Towns is preparing to celebrate a year of significant progress as the group announces that nearly all of its planned 2025 projects have been completed. To mark the occasion, the organisation will host its annual Community Awards Night on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at 7pm in the Climate Change Centre at the rear of the Market House.

The awards will honour residents, businesses, and volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the appearance and upkeep of the town. Prizes will be presented for well-maintained gardens, attractive shopfronts, and commercial premises kept in excellent condition. Each estate’s Garden Competition winner has also been invited to attend.

Three students from Scoil Bhríde will receive special recognition for their involvement in tree planting on the Parochial Grounds during the summer, while 6th class pupils and teachers will be acknowledged for creating the mural of Pope Francis at the Church Grounds. Two dedicated local volunteers who litter-pick throughout the year will also be honoured on the night.

Local businesses and industrial premises that have stood out for their presentation and upkeep will feature among the awardees. Mid-Louth councillors and TD Paula Butterly have been invited to attend the event.

Dunleer Tidy Towns reports steady progress in the national competition, noting a significant rise in marks over the past three years—13, 13, and 12 points respectively. The group believes it is on track to reach the Bronze Medal category next year if the upward trend continues.

All members of the community are invited to attend the awards night, where the group will showcase its achievements for 2025 and outline plans for 2026.
