The late Private Sean Rooney
The Defence Forces have confirmed the details of the repatriation of Private Seán Rooney from Lebanon to Ireland.
Private Seán Rooney's remains will be brought home today, Sunday 18 December by the Irish Air Corps CASA aircraft, departing Beirut at 1600 hrs (local Beirut time).
There will be a solemn UN ceremony held to honour Pte Rooney in Beirut Airport prior to his departure, following which he will be brought to Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel where his remains will be reunited with his family on Monday morning, 19th December.
