A new mural in Dundalk has been nominated for international recognition in the Street Art Cities Monthly Mural Competition. The piece, titled "Enbarr", was painted by artist Mr Copy for the EPSO festival and has quickly become a talking point.

A description of the piece says: "The powerful horse of Irish mythology could run across the sea as if it were solid ground, never slowing, never sinking. He was a gift from the sea god Manannán mac Lir and served the great warrior Lugh. More than just fast, Enbarr kept his rider safe from harm, carrying him through battles and across impossible distances, untouched by fear or danger.

"This artwork brings together two ancient myths from different corners of the world - Enbarr from Irish legend and Pegasus from Greek mythology. One races over the ocean, the other flies through the sky. Both are more than horses; they are symbols of freedom, strength, and the quiet power that carries heroes beyond what others believe is possible."

The mural’s nomination puts Dundalk on the global street art map. Every month, Street Art Cities, a leading international platform for urban art, selects standout murals from over 100 countries for its global competition. With over 140 murals nominated this month alone, being selected is already a major achievement. Public voting is now open, and locals are encouraged to support Dundalk’s entry by casting their vote on streetartcities.com or through the Street Art Cities app until July 10th.

The top three murals each month automatically qualify for the "Best of 2025" competition in January next year.
