Seatown residents who shared their memories and stories of the area for The Seatown Series
A powerful new radio series capturing the memories and social history of one of Dundalk’s most well known areas will air this month.
The Seatown Series, a unique oral history project, will be broadcasted on Dundalk FM at 9am on Saturday 21st and Saturday 29th June, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into the lives and experiences of the Seatown community.
The series is the result of a collaboration between local residents—both past and present—and a partnership including Upstate Theatre Project, An Táin Arts Centre, Louth County Museum andDundalk FM.
Featuring deeply personal reflections and reminiscences, the project has recorded stories from community members including Aileen O'Donoghue, Alan Moore, Assumpta Gray, Brendan Lennon, Carlo Cristini, Eileen Connolly, Eileen McCann, Ian Bridges, Jinx Lennon, Martin Shields and Michael Stafford.

The recorded testimonies will be preserved and made publicly accessible at the Louth County Museum, ensuring that the voices of Seatown will resonate for generations to come.
Paul Hayes, Director of An Táin Arts Centre said: “Oral histories hold a great wealth of knowledge and specificity that complement the more general histories we often read about.
“With each generation, these personal stories risk being lost.
“Ironically, despite having the technology in our hands, we haven’t used it widely to capture these recollections—until now.”
The success of The Seatown Series is thanks to a strong spirit of collaboration, An Táin gave a special thanks to Brian Walsh of Louth County Museum, Alan Byrne of Dundalk FM, and Sophie Coyle for their dedication in bringing this idea to life.
Tune in to Dundalk FM at 9am on Saturday June 21st and Saturday 29th June to hear the voices and stories of Seatown—an area whose history continues to live through its people.
