There were smiles all around at Redeemer Girls National School this week as Louth Disability Cycling Club presented the school with a new Van Raam wheelchair bike, part-funded by Variety - the Children's Charity of Ireland.

This innovative bike, supplied by Companion Tandems, will allow students with additional needs to enjoy the joy of cycling in a safe and inclusive way. It is the second such bike the school has acquired this year.

"The kids absolutely love it when we come down," said a spokesperson from Louth Disability Cycling Club, who have been working closely with the school to bring adaptive cycling to the students.

The special presentation event saw strong community support, with An Garda Síochána Louth Community Policing members, local public representatives including Cllr Seán Kelly and Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú TD, and Kevin O'Brien from Variety Ireland all in attendance. The event was also supported by Inclusion Louth.
