The man charged following a robbery and attempted robbery in Dundalk on Sunday is due to appear before Drogheda District Court this morning Tuesday 17th October, at 10.30am.
Gardai say the first incident occurred on October 15, at approximately 2pm on Bachelors Walk in Dundalk, where a woman in her 70s became the target of an assailant.
A male assaulted the woman, knocked her to the ground, and attempted to take her handbag. He fled the scene on foot, and no items were taken during the course of the incident.
Approximately half an hour later, at 2:30pm, another incident unfolded on Williamson Place in Dundalk, where a woman in her 60s was approached by a man who pushed her to the ground and stole her handbag. He then fled the scene on foot with the stolen property.
Gardaí were alerted to the incidents and arrested a male, 20s, a short time later.
As the investigation continues, a garda spokesperson said: "Anyone who was in the vicinity of Williamson Place, Bachelors Walk and the Seatown areas of Dundalk yesterday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm and who may have noticed any unusual activity is asked to contact investigating gardaí.
