The sports teams in St. Vincent’s School continue to enjoy a highly competitive and successful year.

In particular, it has been an historic season for the St. Vincent’s senior camogie team, with the girls showing tremendous commitment, skill and determination throughout both the Louth Schools League and the Leinster Schools Camogie Competition.

The team began their campaign in the Louth Schools League, competing against strong opposition from Greenhills, Scoil Uí Mhuire, Ardee, St. Louis/CBS and Ballymackenny College.

Throughout the league stages, St. Vincent’s displayed great teamwork and resilience, earning their place in the final after a series of impressive performances. Despite a determined effort, the team were unfortunately beaten by Ardee in the final.

Nevertheless, reaching the league final was a fantastic achievement and set the tone for the rest of the season.

In what was a particularly special year for the school, St. Vincent’s entered the Leinster Schools Camogie competition for the very first time.

The team rose to the challenge brilliantly, topping their group after a number of strong displays and securing a place in the Leinster semi-final.

In the semi-final, St. Vincent’s faced Mercy Kilbeggan in what proved to be a thrilling and closely contested encounter.

Both sides battled fiercely throughout the match, but St. Vincent’s showed great determination and composure to edge the victory and secure a place in the Leinster final.

Reaching a provincial final in the school’s first year in the competition was a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for everyone involved with camogie in the school.

In the final, St. Vincent’s came up against a very strong Presentation Carlow side. Despite a brave and spirited performance, the team were ultimately beaten on the day by the impressive Carlow outfit.

While the result did not go their way, the journey to the Leinster final marks a significant milestone for camogie in St. Vincent’s.

The team’s success this season highlights the growing strength of the sport within the school and reflects the dedication of the players and coaches who continue to promote and develop camogie.

Overall, it has been an extremely positive year for camogie in St. Vincent’s. Reaching the final of the Louth Schools League and making history by competing in and reaching the final of the Leinster Schools competition is a testament to the talent and commitment within the squad.

It is fantastic to see camogie thriving not only in St. Vincent’s but throughout the county, and the future of the game looks very bright indeed.

Meanwhile, the soccer teams have also had a busy season, reflecting the sport’s popularity in the school. The  Senior team have played five cup games since September.

Victories against Loreto Navan, Scoil Mhuire Trim, Coláiste Cois Life, and Sacred Heart Tullamore saw the team progress comfortably to the Leinster Senior Cup Division 1 semi-final against Ratoath College.

After a closely contested match, the girls were extremely unlucky to miss out on a place in the final, losing after extra time and penalties.

Three successive wins against The Marist Dundalk, St Louis Dundalk, and Donabate Community College secured a place in the North East Senior League Division One final.

The girls faced Loreto Navan, a team they had previously defeated in the cup earlier in the season. It proved to be another very tight contest, finishing 1–1 at full time.

St. Vincent’s took the lead in extra time, but two late goals from Loreto Navan turned the game around, leaving the girls to finish as runners-up after a strong campaign.

The U15 team competed in the North East Minor League Division 1 and finished second in their group. The team secured two wins from four matches, recording victories against St Peter’s Dunboyne and Ashbourne Community School.

Despite a strong campaign and placing second in their group, they narrowly missed out on qualification for the next stage of the competition.

While the various teams have narrowly missed out on silverware, they continue to build their squads and look forward to further competitions.
