Dundalk FC will aim to bounce back from last week’s defeat when they travel west to take on Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park tonight at 7.45pm.
The Lilywhites began their Premier Division return with three draws, against Derry City, Drogheda United and Shamrock Rovers, before suffering their first defeat of the campaign away to St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park last Friday.

The last three league meetings against the Tribesmen have ended in a couple of 2-0 defeats for Dundalk, followed by a 1-1 draw the last time the teams met at Eamonn Deacy Park in 2024.
In team news, Dundalk defender Vinnie Leonard will be assessed after illness this week, while Mayowa Animasahun remains out for another 1–2 weeks with the injury picked up in Derry. Everyone else is available
When looking ahead to the Tribesmen clash, manager Ciaran Kilduff told the club website: “We are hoping to react positively to a disappointing night last Friday in Inchicore. The lads are really hungry and have put in a good week of training.
“Everybody has reflected on that performance, but we have to remember that we have had a good start to the season with some excellent performances.
“We travel to Galway United knowing that it is another serious test. Galway beat Sligo Rovers last Friday night and were unlucky not to get a result against St Patrick’s Athletic on Monday.
“We know that we are not going to get anything easy. However, while we respect all other teams that we face, we won’t be going to Galway with any fear.
“We are putting our best foot forward and are hopeful of a positive result. There is a lot of motivation within the squad to put things right after last week. Hopefully, we can make a good account of ourselves and produce a good performance.”
Alan Patchell has been appointed as referee.
