The former Dundalk FC chairman and chairman of Muirhevnamor FC, Ciarán “Skinny” Bond, has been laid to rest following his funeral in Dundalk this morning.
The 58-year-old died suddenly at his home on Saturday, 28th February, after he had travelled to Galway to support the Muirhevnamor FC U12 team.

His death brought widespread sadness across the local football community, particularly in Muirhevnamor, where he grew up and remained closely involved throughout his life.
Bond studied at Trinity College Dublin before establishing a successful career in business, where he founded Imex Trailers Limited.
He remained best known locally for his lifelong involvement with Muirhevnamor FC, where he helped develop the club’s Winter League, Summer League and MDL teams.
He also managed a number of underage sides, with several players progressing to League of Ireland football.
Bond also served as chairman of Dundalk FC following the takeover by Andy Connolly and Paul Brown in August 2012, a period that coincided with major success for the club.

Tributes were paid by local clubs, public representatives and members of the community who acknowledged his long contribution to football in Dundalk.
Predeceased by his father Pat, brother James and sister Eileen, he is survived by his daughters Amy and Ciara and their mother Michelle, his mother Geraldine, brothers Aidan and Anthony, sister Geraldine, partner Catherine McDermott and grandchildren Sophia and Nicole.
This morning, his remains were brought to his family home, before proceeding on foot to the Church of the Holy Family Muirhevnamor for funeral mass, followed by burial at St Patrick’s Cemetery.
