Dundalk FC have extended the contract of 19-year-old Shane Tracey ahead of the 2026 season. The Avenue Road native made 22 appearances for the Lilywhites last season.
Tracey spoke of his pride and excitement when signing the new deal. He told DFCTV: “It's class! A special feeling. Obviously, last year was a great year, but this year I am trying to kick on. I'm really happy.

“I always want to be playing. I'm never happy sitting on the bench. Obviously, I just worked hard and gave 100% all the time. I just wanted to play and be happy,” said the midfielder.
“I never really thought I was going to be a left back, but when I did play, I didn't mind it. I'm happy once I'm playing. I didn't complain.”
Tracey's adaptability and work ethic resonated with the management team of Ciarán Kilduff and Ken Kiernan.
“It's brilliant. Obviously, I had Ken when I was U15s, but last year with Ciarán, it was very good because he showed a lot of belief in me, which I was so grateful for. I'm just excited for this year.”
The Lilywhites' return to the Premier Division offers a stage Tracey is looking forward to.
“I'm really excited. It's going to be a new experience, but I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully, I will just kick on again and keep going.”
