A mother of six who was caught driving without insurance for a fifth time,was given a two month suspended sentence at Dundalk district Court last week

A bench warrant had previously been issued for Thulisile Ezelda Ngubeni (44) with an address at Ath Leathan, Racecourse Road, Dundalk when she was convicted in her absence of committing the offence, and driving without a driving licence or a valid NCT cert at Marian Park, Dundalk on July 11th 2025.

A bench warrant had previously been issued for sentencing after the defendant failed to appear in court.Sgt Richie Browne told the court the defendant had four previous convictions for driving uninsured.

The Defence solicitor said his client has six children ranging in age from five to 26 and stressed that he explained to her "how serious this is".

Judge Stephanie Coggans imposed a two month sentence, suspended on the defendant entering a bond to be of good behaviour for two years and disqualified her from driving for five years.

A €200 fine was also imposed for driving without a driving licence.

Judge Coggans said “This is shocking - we all have to abide by the rules of the road” and warned that “if there's a next time” his client is going to jail.
