Tuesday, 2nd September: Faughart Rovers 1-3 Muirhevnamor FC – Muirhevnamor Gill's Park
This home fixture for Faughart had to be changed to Gill's Park, and it looked like the Rovers were going to make themselves at home when Joey Care gave them a three-minute lead with a delightful lob.
Muirhevnamor rallied to draw level on 20 minutes, thanks to a low strike from Adam Flynn. Minutes from the half-time break, Faughart gave away a penalty which Micky O Kane converted for his 12th goal this season.
The Blues were reduced to 10 men when they had a player sent off early in the second half. A great save under the crossbar by the Faughart keeper denied Conor Mackin scoring from his own half.
Near the end, another Penalty was drilled home by O’Kane, his 13th strike this term. A weak Faughart front line failed to take advantage of having an extra player for almost the entire second half.
