Dundalk FC has announced the signing of goalkeeper Enda Minogue from Athlone Town in their final addition in a productive weekend for manager Ciarán Kilduff.
Minogue made his Premier Division debut for Bray Wanderers at just 16 years old against Dundalk in 2018 and has had an impressive career trajectory.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper later joined Bohemians in 2021 where he was part of the squad for their UEFA Conference League campaign.
He then moved to Athlone Town in 2022 where he became a key player and helped the team secure playoff spots in back-to-back seasons.
Minogue is excited to play his part in Dundalk's ambitions as they set their sights on promotion back to the Premier Division.
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “I’m delighted to get the deal done and delighted to be here. My first game with Bray at 16 was against Dundalk, so it’s kind of a little bit of a full-circle moment.
“It has been a few weeks since the playoffs finished. I was disappointed with the result in the playoffs, so I gave myself a few weeks away from it to see what I wanted to do.
“As soon as I spoke to Ciarán (Kilduff), I had a good idea that this is where I wanted to be.
“The history of the club is definitely something that I would have known, lads in Knocklyon like Dane Massey and Brian Gartland, they’re two players that I would have really looked up to.
“Coming up here, you see the facilities, with the gym and changing rooms, it is a proper club, and I think it is one that we can bring back up.”
Minogue also spoke about the welcoming environment at Dundalk and the familiar faces in the squad.
He said: “I’ve met Ciarán and Ken (Kiernan – assistant manager) a good bit over the past few years, and Dean Ebbe I would have been very close with. I’ll be sharing a car up with him, so that’ll be great.
“Then today, meeting a few of the new boys, it’s nice to be around new players and get to know them. It was brilliant to chat to Horgs (Daryl Horgan) and get to know him as well.”
Minogue is one of five new signings announced at Oriel Park over the weekend, alongside Harry Groome, Dean Ebbe, Conor O’Keeffe, and Gbemi Arubi.
