Oriel Pickleball Dundalk hosted teams from Cavan, Drogheda and Carrickmacros for the first inter-club event on last Sunday.

Pickleball is alive and 'Dinking' in the Northeast as the standard was very high. Each club had an eight-person team, each player playing two matches against each club.

Every point won counted so no one gave up, they all played their hearts out. Cavan was the winner with a score of 338, followed by Dundalk with 305, followed closely by Drogheda and then Carrickmacross.

For a lot of players, it was their time playing in such an event, particularly Cavan and credit goes to their team, led by David Skelly from Virginia.

All in all, it was a great success and big thanks are due to the Dundalk Sports Centre for their help on the day and of course our own organising team.

The concise is it will be the first of many. This weekend Oriel Dundalk have an eight-person team taking part in Multifarnham, Co. Westmeath.

A number of players are also travelling to Brussels to take part in the Belgium Open Pickleball Competition.

We have entrants in the age 19+ Mens Doubles and Mixed Doubles 3.0, the age 50+ Ladies Doubles 3.0 and the age 50+ Mixed Doubles. We wish them all the very best of luck.
