Gardaí have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a serious assault was reported at a home in the Laurence Street area of Drogheda, Louth this morning.
A man in his 20s was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
A man, also in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at a Garda station in the North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
