Gardaí in Louth have highlighted a number of speeding detections made on local roads as part of a nationwide speed enforcement operation.

The Dundalk and Drogheda Roads Policing Units were carrying out checkpoints on Monday when two significant incidents were recorded.

In Drogheda, Gardai stopped a motorcyclist travelling at excessive speed on the M1. Meanwhile, in Dundalk, Gardaí detected the driver of a Land Rover travelling at 104 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Prosecutions have commenced in both cases.

Louth Gardaí say their Roads Policing Units will maintain a visible presence on the county’s roads in the coming weeks to deter dangerous driving and help keep the public safe.
